Essential Kindness

Today, while we were busy sorting through our Christmas items, we received an email from a mother whom we are helping through our Christmas Assistance Program. She shared something that really touched our hearts: her family is struggling not just with holiday gifts, but with basic household essentials. Her note was filled with gratitude for anything we could offer, but it was also a gentle reminder of the quiet struggles many families face.

She shared that her family is going through such a difficult time that even everyday essentials—like silverware, pots and pans, or laundry detergent—mean more to them right now than any toy under the tree. What moved us most was her selflessness—she told us that if it came down to choosing, she’d rather we focus on these essentials to help her family through the season.

In her words, anything we can do is a blessing, and her gratitude shines through so clearly. It’s a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful holiday gifts are the ones that bring a little comfort and relief to those everyday worries.
